WA POLICE have warned families to stay safe during Halloween and remember that "tricks" could result in charges for criminal damage.
Halloween is traditionally celebrated on October 31 and some Bunbury families join in the fun by visiting homes in their neighbourhood to "trick or treat", hoping to score tasty treats.
Sergeant Paul Trimble from WA Police warned residents that "tricks" could end badly.
“Many people feel that some ‘trick ‘acts are acceptable and just harmless fun but other acts such as egg throwing, toilet papering and shaving creaming etc. are understandably not tolerated," Sergeant Trimble said.
"These incidents create property damage and are a major inconvenience to the homeowner that results in a financial hardship for the clean-up of the material left behind.
“Police will act on any reports of criminal damage and those responsible will be charged if the evidence exists.”
