CONCERT: It’s no secret that the South West is brimming with talented youngsters – and the line-up of the South West Opera Company’s SWOClets is no exception.
Junior musical director Jenean Halket has predicted very bright futures for the hard-working singers, with some planning to make a career out of music and use the local group as their launchpad.
Bunbury audiences will have the chance to enjoy a showcase of this talent when the SWOClets present their Smarter than Smoking Frozen in Time concert at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre’s Cube Theatre on Saturday, November 15.
Mrs Halket said the concert would feature a wide range of popular musical theatre numbers and big medleys, from Les Miserables to the epic Disney adventure Frozen.
“Everyone from little kids to grandmas will enjoy what we have to offer,” Mrs Halket said.
“It’s not just a group of kids standing and singing – we will really be showcasing their individual talents, with soloists, cellists and a lovely ballerina enjoying the spotlight.”
There will also be plenty of comedy thrown in the mix as the cast of 50 kids aged from five to 18 bring the audience along for the ride.
“We have been doing a lot of work on choreography so the show is really vibrant to watch,” Mrs Halket said.
“It’s all about building the kids’ confidence, many have ambitions to study music and try out for the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts so we act as a launchpad to help them get there.”
It will be a night of great family entertainment with performances at 2pm and 7.30pm.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 children/concession, available from BREC box office or online.
