UPDATE: Bunbury woman Kaesha Heslewood is pleased to report that her wedding dress has been found.
After the Bunbury Mail ran a story yesterday, the customer returned the dress to New York Dry Cleaners today.
Mrs Heslewood said she was "absolutely stoked" and could not wait to pick up the dress this afternoon.
She thanked the community for all their support in solving the mystery.
New York Dry Cleaners owner Ian Gilmour said the coverage in local media had alerted the customer to the mistake.
The dress had been tucked away in storage and they had not realised it was not the right dress until they pulled it out again to check.
Bunbury bride desperate to find her missing dress
A BUNBURY business is desperately calling out to the community for information to help them solve a mystery and return a sentimental item to a customer.
Earlier this year Bunbury woman Kaesha Heslewood married her husband John in a stunning strapless gown with beading and lace embellishment.
After she was happily married, Mrs Heslewood took her dress to Bunbury’s New York Dry Cleaners to restore it to perfect condition.
But a miscommunication meant that another woman whose daughter was recently married took home Mrs Heslewood’s dress.
Business owner Ian Gilmour said the woman had come into the store on November 10 and visually identified the dress as her daughter’s.
“I don’t believe there was any maliciousness to it – I think she just mistook the dress for another one,” Mr Gilmour said.
“It’s not so much about monetary value but sentimental, we are absolutely devastated for Kaesha and want to help in any way we can.”
Mr Gilmour said staff had not been able to reach the woman on the mobile phone number left behind despite hundreds of attempts and trawling through the phone book.
