FORGET milk and cookies, this year a Bunbury man is taking up the novel idea of selling glittery food for Santa’s reindeer to enjoy.
Local feed store owner James Searle came up with the idea after developing an association with Riding With Disabilities.
The hay, safe for reindeers, is infused with glitter and sold for $5 a bag from Wight and Emmett.
Mr Searle said he was hoping to sell 2000 bags before Christmas.
He said 100 per cent of proceeds raised would go towards the organisation, which provides anyone with a disability the opportunity to ride a horse.
“All you have to do is go out there and you walk away with a lump in your throat,” Mr Searle said.
He said the cause was not about his own business, but promoting the organisation.
To make the hay, Mr Searle uses chaff provided by Western Hay, bags from Allstock Buying Group and labels from ANL Printers
Finally, a secret ingredient imported from Greenland is added.
“It is then approved by Santa himself,” he said.
