CROSSFIT: The CrossFit Bunbury team have paid tribute to support from back home when they took on some of the best athletes in Australia earlier this month.
The team was the only one in regional WA that qualified to compete in the Allstars Affiliate Series on the Sunshine Coast, which saw teams test their skills and strength across a wide range of cardio, gymnastics and weight-lifting challenges.
Three men and three women competed on the first day, but skilled lifter Manesseh Gudgeon was forced to withdraw from the second day of competition when he injured his knee.
The Bunbury men carried on competing with a two-person team and held their own, lifted by the support coming from back home.
CrossFit Bunbury finished up in 43rd position among 57 teams, running in 22nd place at one point in the competition.
Competitor and head coach Maea Winitana said it was a result to be proud of and the team had big plans for 2015.
CrossFit gyms are steadily gaining popularity across Australia, offering strength and conditioning programs combining varied, functional movements performed at high intensity.
The discipline combines aerobic exercise, body weight exercise, gymnastics and Olympic weight lifting.
