With WA gearing up to defend its country title next month, four LGM Industries Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association players have been named in the squad.
Collie’s Rodney Ford, Eaton’s Clint Hewson and Hay Park’s Jono Whitney and Ross Knoll have all been selected to help WA go back-to-back at the championships.
Ford has hit 170 runs in three matches for Collie this season, while twice he was not out.
His high score of 71 currently resides at number 10 on the BDCA’s list of highest scores this season.
Although Hewson’s 2014/15 BDCA season hasn’t been as solid as his previous one, he is still a reliable player to have in the WA side.
Hewson has posted only 70 runs from seven matches this season with a high score of 20.
With Hay Park sitting on top of the league ladder, it’s appropriate that two of their players were chosen for the side.
Whitney has played in all 10 matches this season, posting 157 runs with a high score of 45.
His bowling has also been effective claiming a total of 11 wickets for 154 runs from 47.5 overs.
However Ross Knoll seems to be the pick of the litter from the BDCA recruits.
Knoll has 166 runs from eight matches this season, opening the batting for the Redbacks.
He has also been a star with the ball collecting 17 wickets from 63 overs for 198 runs and 9 maidens.
Former Marist product and 16-year-old Manuel Hunwick will also represent WA under 19s championship side.
Hunwick’s selection comes only a week after he was named to the under 17s national championships team of the tournament.
Hunwick, who has played country colts for the majority of this season, recently made his first grade debut in Perth with Bayswater-Morley.
