BUNBURY is set to be well protected this fire season with a new mobile emergency control vehicle parked at Bunbury’s DFES headquarters.
The vehicle will be used for significant emer including fires, road crashes and natural disasters.
Department of Fire and Emergency Services So-uth West Superintendent Ricky Curtis said, the vehicle was equipped with computers, smart boards and mapping capabilities.
He said from an incident management point of view, emergency services workers can utilise these tools to better facilitate and gather intelligence from the ground.
It is hoped the vehicle will be used across this fire season.
The vehicle will be coordinated by a district SES officer and a DFES fire district officer.
Mr Curtis said he was in the process of upskilling the current team and a training course which ran last Friday was very successful.
He said the multi-level skill sets which emergency workers need to have broaden the capabilities of the teams but they were always looking to recruit new members.
The incident control vehicle is one of 10 vehicles in Australia.
The technology will be updated as required over the vehicle’s lifespan of 10 to 15 years.
