The rollercoaster ride that is the LGM Industries Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association continued on the weekend when the second-last placed Colts overcame the second placed Marist.
The win gave Colts a passage back into the top four, re-establishing them as finals contenders after weeks of cellar dwelling.
Having won the toss and electing to bat first, Marist gave a patchy performance leading to them batting their overs out to post a score of 193.
The Blues’ innings began on the wrong foot when Corey Fitt was dismissed for a diamond duck, having not faced a delivery.
Sitting a wicket down in a zero run slump, the Blues turned to proven batsman Paul Reynolds for a strong knock.
Unfortunately Reynolds was sent back for only 12 runs leaving Marist at 2/34.
Reece O’Connell (26) was the next to be dismissed before Sam Roots gave Marist a score they could build on.
Roots hit 52 runs putting up a 74 run partnership with Shane Cristaldi, who managed 33 of his own.
Adam Spinelli (16) and Matt Anderson (23) put up solid scores in the tail as Marist finished their innings.
A dominant performance from Colts’ top order saw them chase down the total with the loss of only two wickets.
Kyle Davis went early for only four runs, but Cruize Ciallella, Tyler Robertson and Murray Goodwin all posted half centuries to see Colts cruise to victory.
Ciallella put up 55 in a partnership of 89 with Robertson who posted 66, while Murray Goodwin’s 61 saw the side over the line.
Colts will take on Eaton next week while Marist will look to bounce back against Collie.
Hay Park claimed top spot on the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association ladder in impressive fashion with a win over Eaton on Saturday.
Hay Park’s bowling attack dismantled the Eaton top order putting them in the position of 5/26 early.
The Redbacks’ Ross Knoll had three wickets for just 12 runs while Jono Whitney claimed 3/34.
James Hillery (26), Stuart Clark (28) and Jake Rudd (30) hit the only respectable scores as Eaton finished with 131 runs from 47 overs.
There was nothing too fancy about Hay Park’s batting innings, but the Redbacks managed to get the job done.
A knock of 24 from Mark Steven led the Hay Park scoring as they chased down the total with a score of 7/132 from 42.2 overs.
The Leschenault Green Caps claimed their second win in as many weeks when a terrific middle order batting performance saw them defeat Collie.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Leschenault found themselves facing a gloomy 4/22 when star batsman Tom Buchanan was dismissed for just two runs.
Jarrad Quinn (42), Kurt D’Agostino (30) and Benjamin Parker (37) helped put the Green Caps in a respectable position but it was Brody D’Agostino who put up the day’s best performance.
Coming in at eighth, he put up 78 runs to see his side to the score of 8/234 after batting out their overs.
A mediocre performance from the Collie batsmen would see them fall short with a score of 160.
Mark Williams was the lone bright spot for the Coalminers outfit with 49 runs.
