THE Bunbury man who viciously attacked a priest in 2013 was sentenced to five-and-a-half year's jail in the Perth District Court on Friday.
Arron Jack Thorne, 37, attacked the priest at his cathedral residence on Brendtor Street in Bunbury about 9.45pm on Friday, November 15, 2013.
During the 10 minute attack, the priest was knocked to the ground and told not to look at the offender while he stole a number of items from the home.
South West Detectives charged the man with aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and stealing.
The attack left the victim, Father Wayne Bendotti, with a broken jaw.
Two weeks after the attack, Father Bendotti's car was found burnt out in Dalyellup with stolen number plates attached.
Police further alleged Thorne assaulted a police officer and fled from custody in January in Byford.
