One alleged hit-and-run driver in Kenwick bit off more than he could chew by attempting to flee from police dog Nacho on Saturday night.
Nacho's handler was stopped at the traffic lights at the corner of Royal Street and Kenwick Link about 9.15pm when he saw a vehicle at high speed suddenly brake and skid through the intersection then crash into a stationary vehicle, WA Police media's Sam Dinnison said.
Mr Dinnison said the driver allegedly left the scene and ran into nearby bushland as his vehicle burst into flames.
He said Nacho was sent in and found the driver. A 38-year-old man was taken to hospital and later charged with driving offences.
