WA Police internal affairs will investigate the death of a motorist in Ballajura on Sunday night after his car crashed into a tree.
Police media spokesman Sam Dinnison said officers attempted to stop a man driving a Suzuki Swift on Illawarra Crescent, near the intersection of Marangaroo Drive in Ballajura, at 10.30pm, however, the motorist failed to stop and drove away.
Mr Dinnison said the car travelled towards Kingfisher Park then left the road and struck the tree.
The driver, a 30-year-old man from Ballajura died at the scene after police initially removed him from the vehicle and carried out first aid.
He said internal affairs would investigate the circumstances around the initial attempt to stop the vehicle. Police major crash unit was also investigating.
