LOCAL kids can try out the sport of BMX racing with the city’s own elite racer Lauren Reynolds.
Reynolds has invited youths to join her at the Bunbury BMX Club for some thrills and spills on the track.
The Slater and Gordon come and try day is set for Saturday, January 31 and will take place on the corner of Washington Avenue and Rotary Drive from 11.30am to 1.30pm.
Speaking ahead of the free event, Reynolds said children and their parents could visit the Bunbury BMX Club and see what one of Australia’s newest Olympic sport is all about.
“Kids from all around Bunbury are welcome to come along to the club and learn about the basics of BMX racing – a sport which I’m so passionate about,” she said.
“There’s no cost to enter the event, so I encourage everyone to bring their bikes, come and visit me, and speak with accredited coaches.”
Rodney Fitzgerald, BMX Club President, said the club looked forward to welcoming Reynolds back to her home ground for the fun family event.
“The club committee and its members are thrilled to welcome Lauren back to the track and we can’t wait to see a bunch of local kids trying their skills at racing,” she said.
Participants must wear long pants, a long sleeve top, fully covered shoes with socks and a helmet.
