THE inspiration behind last month's Project Kate music festival has passed away this week after battling an aggressive cancer for far longer than doctors predicted possible.
Seven-year-old Lesane "Jimi" Moyle and his family were the beneficiaries of Bunbury's Project Kate music festival which attracted thousands of fans to the Brunswick Showgrounds in December 2014.
Part-proceeds raised on the night was put towards the family to help them with the financial struggle of the medical battle.
A Facebook page set up to keep friends and family updated on Lesane's journey posted the sad news yesterday.
"Throughout the last 417 days Lesane fought with a strength that defied all logic," the post read.
"The doctors and nurses were mystified by his ability to overcome things they told us he would not.
"We will always be grateful for the time we had with our precious son and he will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Play in paradise our beautiful angel. We love you to space and back."
Project Kate organisers said money raised would still go towards supporting the Moyle family.
