A DISAPPOINTING response to an advanced motorbike training course to be held in Bunbury has not deterred the event from going ahead in February.
The training course will come to Bunbury on the back of a push from a group of local advocates determined to see the motorbike death toll reduced across WA.
Eastern states-based motorcycle academy motoDNA became aware of Bunbury’s safety campaign after chief executive officer Mark McVeigh read a story at bunburymail.com.au
Australian former Grand Prix road racer Kevin Magee, who won the 1988 Spanish Grand Prix, will head the training program day in the city.
Despite the efforts of local motorbike club Ulysses, who organised an awareness ride which subsidised the costs of the training, the number of people signing up for training has been lower than expected.
The day will still go ahead but has been changed to February 7.
It will include theoretical and practical training with a focus on reference points, vision, body position, biomechanics, emergency braking, cornering, countersteering and more.
