A LOCAL Bunbury rev-head will be taking his talents international this year.
Shaydan Penniment has been racing formula vee and formula Ford the past two years and is stepping it up after landing an opportunity to test drive with the top team at the formula masters in Asia next month.
Penniment will fly out to drive at the formula one Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia from February 9 to 11.
Being invited to race at the formula one circuit is the culmination of a long journey for Penniment, who began racing in 2012 after a life-long love for the sport.
“I’ve wanted to succeed in racing since I was a kid,” he said.
“I took out a loan for my first race car a few years ago and it’s been great since then.”
Looking forward to the opportunity, Penniment said he felt both nervous and excited about heading to Malaysia.
“It’s extremely exciting, but there are definitely a few butterflies.” he said.
Matso’s Brewery is currently on board Penniment’s campaign, but the Bunbury boy said he is looking to represent local businesses in his races.
“I’d really love to represent the City of Bunbury and the businesses in it when I head overseas,” he said.
“It would be great to showcase some of the things Bunbury has to offer.”
