JUST hours after an all clear was issued for a bushfire in Glen Iris, another blaze broke out next to the skate park near the Bunbury CBD.
More than five fire control vehicles were deployed to public open space across the road from Bunbury Centrepoint at the end of Cobblestone Drive about 5.30pm today.
Hot and windy conditions saw embers fly more than 50 metres across the car park and ignite tall palm trees next to Water's Edge cafe on the Leschenault Inlet.
City of Bunbury fire control officers told the Bunbury Mail that the "ember attack" was the perfect example of how easily a fire could travel across open space and ignite far away from its original source.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze quickly and will monitor the area to make sure it does not reignite.
The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
