BMX: Bunbury BMX star Lauren Reynolds is flying high on form after claiming back-to-back wins over world number one Caroline Buchanan in rounds five and six of the BMX Australia National Series at Westside BMX club in Perth on the weekend.
Round five, which was held on Saturday, saw Reynolds steal a break on the final turn and hang on for the victory.
In round six, she was too good for Buchanan, grasping the win with the pace on in thrilling fashion.
The golden double helped Reynolds bridge the gap on Buchanan on the leaders’ table, as she now trails by just 40 points.
The wins are her first of the season and follow a string of consistent performances, continuing her comeback from an injury-plagued 2014 season.
Reynolds told the Bunbury Mail it was good to be back in strong form.
“It’s really good to have it pay off after a strong pre-season,” she said.
“I’m happy to be back in form – it’s been a long time.”
Reynolds will now fly out to her base in San Diego for a nine month BMX tour that will see her riding in North America, Europe and South America, with trips home to Australia in between.
The trip will also include riding in the BMX World Cup in Manchester in April.
The BMX star said she is looking forward to her trip in the lead up to the Rio Olympics in 2016.
“It’s really good to be heading off on a good note, and I’m stoked to be visiting a lot of different areas for the sport,” she said.
“The USA pro-circuit is a really good hub for BMX so I can’t wait to get back there.”
