The last power pole in the City of Subiaco is no more.
Western Power removed the lone pole on Wednesday to mark the end of a 33-year project to move street power underground.
The last stage of the project focused on Shenton Park and saw the removal of the final 169 wooden poles along with new electricity connections to 569 properties.
Energy Minister Mike Nahan said that since 1982, about 10,000 properties in the city had been converted from above ground to underground power.
"Underground power safeguards the electricity network for future generations," he said.
