NOT even $5000 of security equipment could stop Bunbury couple Anne and Ray Buck’s home from being ram-raided a second time.
The Bunbuy couple of more than 40 years and collectors of vintage motorbikes were ram raided a second time on March 23, losing a vintage Honda motorcycle.
They were ram-raided the first time on June 28 last year which prompted Mr Buck to instal barbed wire fences, security lights and reinforced garaged doors.
But even that didn’t stop the thieves who used Mr Buck’s collectors Toyota Corona to slam through the garage door before taking off with the motorcycle.
Mr Buck said he suspected it was repeat offenders who broke in because they knew the ins and outs of the property, including where he kept the keys to his car and motorcycles.
He spends about 30 hours a week working on the bikes and is well-known for owning Ray Buck Kawasaki on Forrest Avenue for 35 years.
“I would like to put up an electric fence at 240 volts so next time they jump hey get electrocuted but you can’t do that,” he said.
“I was lucky to even be able to put up barbed wire but that’s still not enough.
“And all that money and it was a waste of time because they can come with a pair of bolt cutters...and get straight in.”
He said the feeling of being robbed a second time was sickening.
Mr Buck used the Bunbury Crime Stoppers Facebook page to post a photo of the stolen bike which has been spotted and reported by members of the community after being seen on Bunbury roads but has not yet been intercepted by police.
“I may as well have given $5000 to the Salvos because it’s done nothing,” he said.
