PLAY: A best-selling book by Andy Griffiths will come to a Bunbury stage and take you on an adventure that will be hard to forget.
Cast member from the The 26-Storey Treehouse John Shearman spoke to entertainment ahead of the performance and said he was so excited to come to Western Australia for the first time.
Shearman plays Terry Denton the illustrator of the book, The 26-Storey Treehouse and said so far the show has been very well received from shows they have done on the east coast..
He enjoyed the fun of bringing the children’s imagination to life and bounced off the reactions of the audience which varied across different regions.
The book went through a long process of workshopping before a script was created and rehearsals went underway, the play has been adapted by award-winning playwright and author Richard Tulloch who has written The Book of Everything and Bananas in Pyjamas.
Shearman is originally for Newcastle in NSW and said he loved being in a regional town and was looking forward to what Bunbury had to offer.
When he spoke to entertainment they had done 150 shows and said he never got bored.
“Every time we find more and more layers and depth to the play,” Shearman said.
“The play shifts and changes perception and just gets richer as we go.”
Audiences should expect the unexpected and be prepared to have a good laugh, because the dynamic cast will bring you a story that takes you everywhere.
He said be prepared and bring a change of pants because it will be sure to having you in fits of laughter.
The 26-Storey Treehouse will be performed at Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on Thursday May 7 at 4.30 and 6.30pm.
There will also be a special schools’ performance at 12pm.
