THE Parade Hotel closed its doors unexpectedly yesterday morning, leaving staff out of a job indefinitely.
A handwritten note left on the door informed staff and customers that the hotel was closed until further notice and apologised for the inconvenience.
The hotel employed about 30 people, including kitchen, bar, restaurant and administration staff.
Customers who had paid deposits to use the hotel for upcoming functions have not been advised if their money will be refunded at this stage.
Yesterday Bunbury Police tweeted that a juvenile function organised to be held at the hotel tonight had been cancelled due to the sudden closure.
Parents have been advised not to drop their children off at the venue.
The Parade, located on Austral Parade on the Leschenault Inlet, is a popular venue across the summer months with hundreds flocking to its Sunday sessions, but becomes quieter in winter.
Up until recently, local venue manager Margaret Newton also ran Exit Nightclub and Noovoh restaurant on the Back Beach but the venues have changed hands.
It is understood the lease on the Parade Hotel has also been advertised for up to a year but has not attracted a new operator.
The Bunbury Mail has contacted Ms Newton for comment.
