Another dead swan with its head missing has been found at a lake in Perth – just five kilometres from the site where a decapitated swan was found last year.
The Department of Parks and Wildlife received reports on Sunday of three swans found dead at Lake Monger - one with its head and neck missing and two others with heads still attached to their bodies.
The RSPCA conducted an investigation into the decapitation of a swan at a park in the City of Stirling in August last year.
But it appears the case was never solved.
The latest incident at the lake in Leederville has left authorities and locals baffled.
"Occasionally we get that kind of death [swan decapitation] at Lake Monger, but why it happens, no one knows," one person who visited the park on Sunday said.
It is unclear whether the swans were killed by an animal or human.
But authorities did not seem convinced that the cut to the swan with the missing head was clean enough to have been the work of a human.
Foxes are also suspected of the killings.
