A GROUP of young Bunbury mums have raised more than $2,000 for the Starlight Foundation as part of a community services course at Milligan House.
The Nixi Young Mums Education Group embarked on a journey to the V8 supercars in Perth last weekend to volunteer in shaking tins to support the children’s charity.
JSW training project officer Diane Walker said it was great to see the women working as a team.
“The course can lead to job opportunities and further education and it is rewarding seeing the personal growth from each of our girls.”
The women have dedicated roughly 12 hours a week to complete the program over a three month period while having other jobs and a family to look after.
The program fosters relationships and confidence in the community, bonded by a common love of helping people and being mums.
“The girls did an amazing job on the weekend and helped raise more than $2,000” Ms Walker said.
