GENEROSITY from the Bunbury Turf Club and the dedication of volunteers has seen the Riding for the Disabled association raise more than $11,000.
President Julie Down was presented with a cheque from TAB Corp last week for $5,000.
Turf club chief executive officer Paul Rossiter gave RDA the chance to shake tins at Bunbury Cup Day and donated 600 trilby hats to sell.
TAB Corp promised to match every dollar raised up to $5000 and the group managed to beat this target.
“This was such a great opportunity for us to be able to raise much needed funds for the association and we really appreciate the generosity of the turf club,” Ms Down said.
“The money raised will go towards our farrier fees for this year, ongoing horse costs and a large vet bill from one of our horses that needed to go up to Murdoch vet clinic for an operation.”
Mr Rossiter said it was great to be able to honour the hard working volunteers at RDA and said it was a rewarding way to give back to the community.
“This is a good cause and we saw the opportunity to partner with them because their volunteers work so hard,” Mr Rossiter said.
Ms Down encouraged the community to come down and get involved, she said it is a really rewarding volunteering opportunity.
“We love having new people come down and join our dynamic team,” Ms Down said.
The association runs every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 to 12 at the South West Equestrian Centre on Bussell Highway.
