Business figures in WA's South West are welcoming the extension of the nbn network to 8000 futher premises - as part of a rollout to another 30,000 homes and businesses around the state.
The nbn's quarterly update on the national rollout plan was released on Thursday.
The works include premises in WA's Perth, South West, Wheatbelt, Goldfields-Esperance, Great Southern and Kimberley regions.
Premises in the South West were best off, with 8000 to be connected across Augusta, Bridgetown, Gracetown, Cowaramup, Margaret River, Prevelly, Gnarabup, Nannup and Pemberton.
Pemberton will have 300 premises connected.
Pemberton Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Maxine Fisher said the news was "fantastic" and businesses that had struggled to conduct basic functions such as banking and research online would welcome the news.
"The chamber, over the past two years, has done a lot of lobbying to the shire and the politicians to get better facilities, so it's great it's all coming together," she said.
"We were getting ready to put in a submission to a federal government telecommunications inquiry actually, stressing there is that need in Pemberton, so it looks like I won't have to do that report after all.
Ms Fisher said there had been enormous problems in Pemberton with ADSL and mobile coverage particularly over the past 18 months, with some families unable to get ADSL at all despite living close to the exchange point and mobile services "not up to scratch" in many locations in the town.
"The local real estate agent, in fact, says it has had several people inquire about wanting to shift to the area and set up a home business but the internet problems prevented it," she said.
"We're only a small town with a population of less than 1000 and we need as many new families to shift down here as we can – even one or two has a huge flow-on effect.
"This will be welcomed by the whole community."
Federal Member for Forrest Nola Marino said it was an important milestone for the area, with greater certainty for homes as businesses as they prepare for superfast broadband services.
"The nbn will deliver internet access that's fast, reliable and affordable" Mrs Marino said.
"Better broadband will transform the way homes and businesses communicate, do business and access online services."
"It is great to be able to provide an nbn timeline for the Margaret River region, which will provide certainty for the community and business in the region."
The wider metropolitan suburbs to be included in the next round of the rollout plan are Boya, Darlington, Gooseberry Hill, Greenmount, Hazelmere, Helena Valley, High Wycombe, Koongamia, Maida Vale, Midland, Midvale, Swan View, Viveash, Woodbridge and Bellevue in the Perth Hills.
The central metropolitan suburbs included are Highgate, Mount Lawley, North Perth, Northbridge, Perth, West Perth and East Perth.
The construction plan now covers more than 318,000 WA premises.
The number now connected to the network in WA is 90,000 and eventually, it will reach the entire state – 1.3 million premises.
Nationally, more than 1 million premises across Australia are now connected and by 2020 the total of 12 million should be completed.
nbn will release a three-year rollout plan in coming months.
Once the nbn is connected near them, residents need to get in touch with their internet or phone provider for advice on the final step in hooking in.
