THE Lighthouse Beach Resort in Bunbury looks a bit more like a set from Transformers as a fleet of perfectly polished trucks decorate the hotel’s exterior.
The venue will set the scene for a national conference this weekend, with more than 200 rural transporters and their supporters from across Australia coming together for the Livestock and Rural Transport Association conference.
The annual event features indoor and outside displays from a large number of sponsors keen to demonstrate their goods and services to the growing rural transport sector.
Livestock and Rural Transport Association of WA president Stephen Marley said the future for rural transport was bright and the conference was an opportunity for sponsors and members to talk about their equipment needs.
Mr Marley said transport policy was vitally important to the Association’s members.
“This year we expect delegates to ask probing questions about the heavy vehicle toll on the Perth Freight Link and to once again seek answers as to why our road network does not have sufficient safety bays for drivers to rest,” Mr Marley said.
“With agriculture expected to be the bright spot on the economic horizon, it is important we have infrastructure and policies that encourage productivity and efficiency not hinder it.”
The trucks will be on show at the resort until Sunday morning.
