TO the outside world it was just a normal Saturday on Picton Road in Bunbury, but if you stepped inside the CrossFit South West box the adrenaline was through the roof.
The box hosted Bunbury's first ever Olympic weightlifting competition, attracting competitors from as far afield as Geraldton to test their strength and technique.
The sport of Olympic weightlifting was introduced to Bunbury two years ago when the South West Barbell Club was created and it has continued to grow in popularity ever since.
The competition was a Weightlifting Western Australia sanctioned event with a panel of judges on board.
Bunbury was well-represented with entrants from both CrossFit South West and CrossFit Bunbury.
In the women's division CrossFit Bunbury took out second and third place thanks to solid performances from training partners Mellita Bacich and Angie Sparks.
The men's division saw CrossFit South West coach Manasseh Gudgeon claim first place with a successful 150kg clean and jerk.
Gudgeon's performance was good enough to qualify for national competition.
