TWO Bunbury businesses have proved their worth on a state level when the Building Designers Awards of WA were held in Perth last month.
The event is held annually to recognise designers from across WA for their creative design across a variety of categories, including residential new, renovated, commercial, industrial, special projects and more.
This year two Bunbury firms scooped prestigious awards.
Veen’s Design Group claimed the new commercial and public buildings under $2 million category for the design of Scope Business Centre on Blair Street.
Merge Building Design won the special purpose structures category for the Eco Autowash Carwash on the corner of Robertson Drive and South Western Highway.
The new Bunbury Farmers Market was also a finalist on the night.
Margo Veen said it was a great coup for the Bunbury designers to have their professional skills recognised within WA and it showed confidence within the business sector to be building new premises here on our doorstep.
Merge Building Design’s Sam Lefroy said he was a big believer that the built environment improves a city’s image and how residents feel.
“Companies like Veens and Merge are a part of this and picking up state awards is a nice acknowledgement that we’re contributing to improving Bunbury's building landscape,” Mr Lefroy said.
Both awards are automatically entered into the National BDA award held in Melbourne in October.
