CLOSE to 400 women are swimming, biking and running their way in to this year’s Nina’s Women’s Triathlon.
Event organisers are encouraging women to have a go and get involved in a community event which is in its tenth year.
Organiser Amanda Hickman said it was a fun day out which promoted a healthy lifestyle.
“It’s a way to get active and it’s an easy and comfortable event where there is plenty of support to get motivated to start training,” she said.
“It’s a great way to meet people and train in a group.”
Committee member Lorrie Morrison has competed in all nine triathlons and was keen to tackle her tenth.
She said the 200 metre swim, 10 kilometre bike and two kilometre run was achievable.
“It’s aimed for people who want to get back into sport and get active in easy and comfortable surroundings,” she said.
She said if you aren’t sure about the day, an information session at Intersport on September 20 from 2pm to 4pm would be a great place to start.
Tickets include a six week training schedule beginning on October 5 which leaves plenty of time to get prepared for the November 15 race day.
