THE City of Bunbury has received “strong interest” from people keen to lease the Back Beach building which formerly house NooVoh Restaurant.
The venue unexpectedly closed its doors in May when its former management shut down their operations at both the beachfront restaurant and the Parade Hotel.
Last night the City of Bunbury council committed $70,000 to repair the building and voice confidence that a highly-experienced operator would revitalise the restaurant.
The building returned to the City’s control in June after the lease was surrendered by the previous operator.
A subsequent inspection found that minor structural repairs were required to ensure the building met health and building codes.
Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said the City had already received strong interest from people who were keen to lease the building.
“I am very confident that a reputable operator will take on the lease and make the most of this unique opportunity,” Mr Brennan said.
“The timing gives a new lease holder the opportunity to have it open for the busy summer period and I am very optimistic that this will occur.”
Repairs are expected to take four weeks with the City anticipating that a new lease would be negotiated soon after the completion of work.
