HARVEY-Brunswick-Leschenault’s future talent was on display when they claimed the 2015 South West Football League premiership with a win over Augusta-Margaret River on Sunday.
An early barrage of goals set the Lions up for the 14.5.89 to 4.13.37 win.
Despite kicking against the breeze in the first quarter, HBL was able to take control of the match using their efficient forward line.
Thomas Boyle and Luke Slater were deadly for the Lions in the forward 50m arch while Dylan Heasman dominated the middle.
The Lions poured in six goals straight for the first quarter to take a 22-point lead into the first change.
AMR had plenty of the possession through the middle in the second quarter but HBL’s defenders made it hard for them to apply scoreboard pressure.
Mitch Fairclough was putting on a show for the Hawks while Sam Monkhouse followed suit.
But it was HBL who continued their assault as they piled on three goals to one in the second quarter.
