BUNBURY’S rainfall for the month of September has dropped significantly below the yearly average.
On average, Bunbury receives 85.4 millimetres of rain each September.
But this year the city recorded a convincing dry patch at the end of the month, leaving the total at a low 61.2mm of rainfall.
This comes off the back of an 11-day streak (September 20 to September 30) where no rain fell on Bunbury at all.
The bulk of Bunbury’s rain for the month came on September 5, when 27.2mm drenched the city.
But with 21 days recording no rainfall at all, the end total fell well below its average.
The mercury also climbed above its usual September average, as Bunbury recorded a mean maximum temperature of 19.7 Celsius.
This is compared to the September average of 18.5 degrees.
The hottest day of the month occurred on Wednesday, September 23 with the temperature ascending to 27.4 degrees, while Bunbury shivered through September 2 which was the month’s coldest day with a low of 0.8.
Despite inconsistent showers to start the month of October, Bunbury will see little more rain according the Bureau of Meteorology’s forecast.
It is a mostly sunny forecast over the next seven days with temperatures sitting around a comfortable 25 degrees.
Bunbury had four days of zero rainfall to start October and it would appear the dry times are set to continue.
