THE man involved in a shocking unprovoked attack on a bus driver and two passengers on a TransBunbury bus on May 29 has been sentenced in the Bunbury Magistrates Court.
Dalyellup man Leyland Joseph Davis pleaded guilty to two assault charges when he faced Magistrate Dianne Scadden on October 1.
The court heard a mother and daughter were travelling home from Bunbury to Dalyellup when they became the victims of an attack bought on by Davis and his partner who had been drinking heavily through the day.
They were asked to be quiet as they were acting rowdy and causing a disturbance.
Davis lashed out at the passengers before the bus driver intervened and tried to get them to leave the bus.
He then walked to the front of the bus and yelled at the driver.
CCTV footage from the bus showed the 16-year-old victim being punched repeatedly and her mother desperately trying to protect her.
The bus driver tried to use a fire extinguisher to fight back against the group.
He was given an eight month suspended jail sentence and a 12 month intense supervision order.
