A NEW mode of transport is available in Bunbury, offering a unique way to see the historical sites of the city.
The Dolphin Discovery Centre has been trialling electric bikes and general manager David Kerr said it would offer people another transport option.
The centre is in the process of organising a CBD highlights tour which would go for one-and-a half hours and explore the city centre, the Old Jetty, Rotary Lookout and Bolters Heights.
“We have five bikes at the moment, they are battery operated and can travel for 80 kilometres on one full battery,” Mr Kerr said.
“People will be able to come down and do the tour or hire the bike for up to six hours and we will provide them with maps.
“This is a good mechanism for exploration and a way to take in the scenery and take the load off.”
The bike can offer different levels of assistance, move at a range of speeds and is easy to use, he said.
They took the bikes out for the first time at the Dolphin City Festival at the weekend and Mr Kerr said the public had shown an interest in them.
