Aces Navy defeat Bulls Gold
A week after his historic 71-point performance, Tre Nichols was unable to duplicate his efforts as Bulls Gold was defeated by Aces Navy.
Luke Deighton led the assault on Gold, with an impressive 26 points seeing his side to a 77 – 70 victory.
Wade Hitchcock also chimed in for Aces Navy with 17 points.
Nichols led Bulls Gold with 26 of his own and received healthy contributions from Cohen Thompson (18), Tom Kelly (11) and Craig Kamocha (11).
But being down to just five players hurt the side, as Aces Navy came away with the win.
Tornadoes Black defeat Tornadoes Red
Despite not having a bench rotation for the entire game, top-of-the-ladder Tornadoes Black made easy work of bottom dwellers Tornadoes Red on Friday night.
All five players scored in double-figures as they routed Tornadoes Red 101 – 82.
Carey Watkins led the charge with 30 points for Black closely followed by Jason Smith with 29.
Nat Van Dijk (16), Tim Collins (15) and Brendon Park (11) also pitched in.
Red fought back with four of their own double-figure scorers, but fell marginally short of Tornadoes Black.
Busselton Bullets defeat Aces White
The Bullets kept an even record with fourth-placed Bulls Gold with a seven-point win over Aces White on Friday night.
Matt Mansfield (19), Todd Earle (16) and Mitch Tenardi (14) all contributed heavily for the Bullets, keeping them in touch with the top four.
Brody England’s 28 points for Aces White was not enough to gain his side a win as they were defeated 73 – 66.
Busselton will take on Tornadoes Black next week.
Bulls Maroon defeat Tornadoes Grey
South West Slammer Trent Worthington banked 24 points to lead Bulls Maroon to a narrow victory over Tornadoes Grey on Friday night.
Grey’s even spread of points could not keep up with Bulls Maroon, as they fell 73 – 69 in a four-point nail-biter.
Fellow Slammer Patrick Phillips helped Worthington lead the assault with 16 points while Nick Martin and Nathan Berryman both tallied 11 for Bulls Maroon.
Adam Sheehy (14), Brandon Bennell (13), Darius Smith (13) and Joel McKay (12) led the scoring for Tornadoes Grey.
A-grade women
Busselton Bullets defeat Aces Blue
The Busselton Bullets women’s side claimed their second win of the season with a three-point victory over Aces Blue on Friday night.
Ella Bassett and Georgia Oneil combined for 30 points (15 each) in the 56 – 53 win for the Bullets.
Roi Naicovi followed with 12 points while Eleanor Hartill pitched in with eight.
Kate Fielding’s late bucket brought Aces level with the Bullets late in the fourth quarter, but Bassett hit the go-ahead two-pointer to put the Bullets back in the lead.
Naicovi then knocked down a free-throw to help her side to the win.
Fielding finished with 19 points for Aces Blue.
Tornadoes Black defeat Bulls
The second-placed Bulls fell to the third-placed Tornadoes Black after a 14-point performance by Ebony Bilcich lifted her side to a 49 – 41 victory.
Bilcich’s performance was backed up by Taylah Kemp who poured in 12 points while Cian Parsons pitched in with nine.
No scorer breached the double-figure mark for Bulls, as Brittany Gliddon top-scored with nine.
