TEAM moral has well and truly been boosted at Coodinda Primary School after their netball team won an ANZ netball nation grant, decking them out with balls, shoes, uniforms, bibs and equipment.
Coodinda Primary School students Tandia Halzapfel, 10, and Jordan Brady, 8, are just two of the ten students who received the new equipment.
They said they cannot wait to get out on the court in the coming season to play for their team, the Cooinda Scorchers.
The girls said they usually just wear their school uniform to play in weekend competitions but the new netball dresses meant they all looked the same.
“We can’t wait to start playing in our new shoes and win a few games,” Jordan said.
The school’s netball coordinator and team coach Karen Field said she was delighted to receive the grant after sending in a “small spiel” to apply.
“The girls are so excited to be able to go on the court all looking the same and as a team,” she said.
“Through the season it is great to watch the kids improve and work together and having these uniforms, some new balls and bibs mean they really are a full team.”
She said the girls have big ambitions, but hope they remember their Cooinda roots.
“I have told them when they are playing for Fever or Diamonds to think back and remember their first coach Karen and the new uniforms which helped them get there,” she said.
The netball season starts in term two.
