The South West Development Commission’s chief executive officer, Don Punch, is retiring.
After nearly 18 years at SWDC, Mr Punch will be moving on to new opportunities.
Mr Punch will depart on July 1, and an acting CEO will be appointed to serve in the position until Mr Punch’s leave has been cleared and the position has been advertised and filled.
South West Development Commission chairman Stuart Hicks congratulated and thanked Mr Punch for his great service to the South West region.
“Don has many friends and admirers throughout the South West and we will all miss his energy, wisdom and support,” Mr Hicks said.
He said Mr Punch had helped preside over fundamental growth in the social and economic condition of the region.
“With the power of an excellent regional blueprint, great staff and a strong board, we look forward to a great future for the South West region and acknowledge his wonderful contribution. We wish Don good luck,” Mr Hicks said.
Mr Punch said that he has enjoyed every aspect of the job.
“I guess it is never the right time to retire, but I feel I am leaving SWDC in very healthy condition, with runs on the board and with great plans and works in the pipeline,” Mr Punch said.
“I am certain my successor will enjoy the same special relationship with the great people of the South West.”
Mr Punch acknowledged the support of the chairman and board of SWDC throughout his term as CEO and wished them well.
