CROSSES made by Bunbury Catholic College students to honour those lost in warfare have made their way halfway round the world to cemeteries and memorials in Europe with photo proof completing the circle last week.
In 2015, a special Anzac Day service was held by Bunbury Catholic College to mark the centenary of the Gallipoli landing.
At the Marist Campus in Bunbury, the crosses formed the shape of a cross on the Albert Oval bank while at the Mercy Campus in Australind, each cross was placed on the raised grass area to provide a moving reminder of the lives lost in armed conflict.
The students had written personalised messages on these crosses which were then collected by The Australian War Memorial who arranged for the crosses to be laid on Austrailan war graves in Turkey, France, Belgium, Malaysia, Singapore, Greece, South Africa and the Middle East.
Just before Anzac Day 2016, a Queensland couple Daphne and Peter Leggo visited Villers Bretonneux and were given a cross by staff they could lay on a grave.
The cross was from a student at Bunbury Catholic College.
They then went to Ypres for Anzac Day and attended the dawn service at Polygon Wood.
Quite by chance, the staff giving out the crosses handed Peter a second cross produced by a student from Bunbury Catholic College.
He took some photos and sent his story along to the College to share his tale with the students.
