A motorcycle rider is in hospital with serious injuries after crashing his motorbike following an alleged attempt to evade police in Heathridge.
About 9.30pm on Thursday night, officers tried to stop the Kawasaki rider on Ocean Reef Road near Admiral Grove, Heathridge, WA Police spokeswoman Susan Usher said.
"It will be alleged the motorcycle slowed and as police started to pull up alongside it, the rider accelerated away and into a park," she said.
"Officers followed the motorcycle on Eddystone Avenue for a short distance before aborting the pursuit when the rider crossed to the incorrect side of the road near another vehicle."
Police lost sight of the bike but kept travelling in that direction and about five minutes later were flagged down by members of the public.
The rider had lost control at a roundabout on Caridean Street and hit a wall.
The 26-year-old was taken to Joondalup Health Campus with serious injuries.
