WA Liberals endorse Ian Morison as their candidate for Bunbury

Mr Morison graduated from the University of WA Law School and was admitted as a lawyer in December 1979. 

From 1980 to 1993, Mr Morison practiced as a commercial lawyer and conveyancer before switching to be a court lawyer, practising in civil and commercial litigation and commercial law. 

He has practiced his trade in all state courts, most state tribunals and has appeared in the Federal Court and High Count on special leave applications. 

“The time is right for me to make a bid to enter public life,” he told the Mail on Monday. 

“I’ve been active in politics my whole adult life and a member of the Liberal Party for a number of year.

“Now I want to contribute to state affairs.”

Mr Morison said it is important that Bunbury has a fierce spokesperson who can spread a message of positivity about the city and campaign to make sure Bunbury gets its fair share.

“I have a vision for Bunbury and I would like to be around and involved to see it come into affect,” he said. 

“There are so many great assets about Bunbury the people that live here that deserve to be highlighted.

“Collectively we are sturdy, tolerant, hard working and good humoured and it will be a joy to represent this if I get elected.” 

Mr Morison said it was an honour to be selected as the man to try and fill Bunbury MLA John Castrilli’s shoes. 

“John Castrilli has been an outstanding MLA and has done a good job servicing Bunbury,” Mr Morison said. 

“I’m committed to carrying on that effort if elected.” 

Mr Morison said he hopes to use the coming months to meet as many people as possible to absorb their views on the future of Bunbury and to start to show people what he will stand for. 

“This is my chance to really help people,” he said. 

Currently the WA National Party have confirmed James Hayward as their candidate for the seat of Bunbury with the WA Labor Party yet to announce if and who they will endorse in this electorate.
