Over 100 members of the City of Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club attended the annual prestigious awards presentation last Saturday night.
The event began with the presentation of a cheque for $10000 from the Surf Life Saving Association of WA and a donation of $2000 by the club’s “Old Boys” who run the annual William Barrett Swim Through each year in support of the club.
Six awards are presented annually to those members who have been integral to the club in the past season and exemplify the values of the club including service to the club and the community, showing respect, helping others and going beyond what is expected.
Todd Haffner won the President’s trophy in recognition of his significant contribution to the development of Surf Lifesaving in the club and the community.
Lorraine Crook was presented the Glen Morton Trophy as best club member for rendering outstanding service which is beyond that expected of a member.
Jack Brightwell won the Rod Killerby award for most enthusiastic cadet while Kiera Albertsen was named best junior club member.
The Tony and Julie Snelling education and training award went to Belinda Stegman for her contribution to education, training, instruction and examinations.
Finally Richard Banks was named best patrol member for displaying exception dedication and selfless commitment to the rule, regulation and duties of an active patrolling lifesaver.
