South West Traffic officers have charged a Bunbury man with a number of offences after they intercepted a Holden Calais being driven in Bunbury on Friday night.
About 9.15pm, the traffic officers were on patrol conducting speed detection duties and had their Automatic Number Plat Recognition camera monitoring vehicles on the road when a vehicle of interest was detected.
The officers stopped the car on Robertson Drive and spoke to the driver.
It will be alleged the driver has a suspended driver’s licence and failed a roadside drug test.
The man was taken to Bunbury Police Station where a second test was undertaken, which returned positive for traces of methylamphetamine. The drug test sample will be sent off for official analysis.
It will be further alleged a search of the vehicle located methylamphetamine, cannabis, drug paraphernalia and cash. The vehicle has been impounded for 28 days.
A 32-year-old Bunbury man has been charged with no authority to drive, possession of a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply (methylamphetamine), possession of a prohibited drug (cannabis), and possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained property (cash).
He was refused bail and appeared in the Bunbury Magistrates Court on Saturday.
