The Bennies vocalist and synth player Anty Horgan took a moment, mid-way through getting his nose pierced, to have a chat with the Mail about how their tour is going and what they had in store for their Prince date.
The Bennies are six shows into their 27 date tour and Anty said the entire band is having the time of their life and even after coming down with a nasty case of shingles, he wasn’t letting it slow them down.
“We’re having a great time, we’ve played our big Melbourne gig and now we’re hitting the regional towns for our smaller gigs and we’re having a a lot of fun,” he said.
“It’s so much different playing a smaller regional show, it’s a different experience, but it’s sick.
“I love the massive adrenaline rush I get on stage when everyone’s having a good time.”
Anty said the most important thing to them at show is everyone’s having fun.
“We want people to get excited about life, that’s why we make music, so people can come to our shows and find some escapism in music.”
“At some of the regional shows the crowd can get a little rough, we want everyone who comes to our show to come with a good attitude and relax.”
The Bennies will be wrapping up their tour in style at the Prince on July 31, where Anty said the band will be putting on a killer show, then partying hard to celebrate.
