The Tivoli will remain as haven of live performance after the sale of the venue went unconditional this week.
As Fairfax Media reported in April, a group of committed live performance lovers and their investors managed to raise the money required to ensure the popular venue didn't fall into the hands of investors.
The O'Rourke family had owned the venue, which has hosted some of music's biggest names, since 1999, and when the site was advertised for sale it was listed as a prime development opportunity.
The area where The Tivoli is located, near the Brisbane Showgrounds in Bowen Hills, has undergone heavy development in recent years, and a number of developers had expressed interest in turning the site into units.
The site had development approval for up to 180 units.
But the buying group, which ended up paying $8,350,000 for the space, is committed to retaining it's role as a performance space.
In April one of the buyers, which includes former Brisbane Powerhouse producer Dave Sleswick, his brother Steven and Jerome Dalton from Dalton Catering, told Fairfax Media they wanted to ensure the space would continue to serve as a live music venue as well as opening it up to other kinds of performances as well as functions.
The sale was originally expected to go through by May, but delays meant it didn't go unconditional until the end of June.
