Bunbury boy at heart Chad Vindin loves to play the piano, and does it well and it’s earned him a spot on the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
After leaving Newton Moore Senior High, Bunbury, Vindin took a leap of faith and moved to London to pursue his passion of making music.
He gained his spot in the festival earlier this year after he won the accompanist's prize at the prestigious Royal Overseas League competition, held annually in the United Kingdom.
The competition attracts young musicians from all over the world who come to London for a chance to make their mark.
"Having my name announced was such a huge moment for me," he said.
"I've entered for three years running, so I guess third time really was the charm."
Vindin’s win means that he will be travelling to Scotland later this month for his Edinburgh Fringe Festival debut in a week-long series of recitals.
Although now living in London, he remembers Bunbury fondly.
"Back when I was finishing at Newton Moore, I just starting to imagine what career I might choose, and piano seemed like such a far-fetched option, but since then I have worked at it and I am now a professional pianist, based in London but working all over the world.
“It seems like the stuff that dreams are made of, and I wouldn't have it any other way."
