Developer of Bunbury's glitzy new waterfront Aspire Apartments will build a second development next door, after brisk sales and strong local interest in the units.
Only five units in the first stage - including the two multi-million dollar penthouses - are still available.
Queensland developer Austpro Management Services - buoyed by the strong interest in waterfront apartments - will take up an option to build a second apartment block on the beach at Koombana North. Completion of both Aspire 1 and 2 is due in the second half of 2017.
As Landcorp celebrated completion of civil works at Koombana North last week, Austpro has started planning work on Aspire 2.
Aspire project director Peter Greenland said it was hoped construction on both blocks would begin early next year. “We’ve had very solid sales, and a lot of inquiry in the second stage,” Mr Greenland said.
“Once we start building, Bunbury will just turn around. It will stimulate the whole economy - there’s no doubt about that.”
Set overlooking the magnificent Koombana Bay in the heart of Bunbury, each Aspire block will contain 14 apartments and four commercial premises.
The jewel in the beachside development’s crown will be the penthouse suites. Perched atop of the Aspire complex, the two-story penthouses will feature more than 450 square metres of living area – as large as many WA residential blocks.
They feature three bedrooms, two bathrooms, open plan living areas, a custom games room, study three undercover car bays and secure storage. Expansive floor to roof glazing will deliver sweeping views over the bay to the north.
Each penthouse also contains a spectacular rooftop garden terrace. With plunge pool, outdoor bar and day beds overlooking Bunbury, they will bring a touch of Hollywood to the city.
The price tag? A cool $6.8 million for the most expensive penthouse.
Mr Greenland said he expected strong interest in the penthouses once an international marketing campaign was launched in the next month or two.
Earlier this year the government announced new plans to continue transforming the city’s waterfront, including a multi-million makeover of the popular Koombana Beach and redeveloping the city’s premier tourist attraction, the Dolphin Discovery Centre.
Additional plans include a new 450-pen marina, several high-rise developments on Casuarina Harbour and a planned water park in the CBD.
