Sydney's skyline is set to have another 775 apartments, following the lodgement of development plans by Lendlease for its Renzo Piano-designed residential towers at Barangaroo South, to be known as One Sydney Harbour.
They will be some of the last part of the $6 billion development, which also includes three office towers and the low-rise residential near Kings Street Wharf.
Lendlease's Barangaroo South managing director, Andrew Wilson, said One Sydney Harbour would become an iconic Australian address to "complement the Sydney skyline".
"With the latest three development applications, we're proposing to build 775 residences split across three tower structures, plus retail space on the ground floor. These three buildings collectively form One Sydney Harbour, which will be located just to the north of Barangaroo's commercial buildings," Mr Wilson said.
At the time of his appointment last year Mr Piano said: "A city development of three luxury residential high-rise towers in such a location is, in this climate, a rare opportunity. Our vision is to design three buildings with a gentle presence in the cityscape and in dialogue with the harbour waters and Barangaroo waterfront."
The three towers, being a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, as well as a penthouse in each tower, also will have retail and will be constructed near James Packer's Crown Resort.
A community group is claiming the Planning Assessment Commission, which approved the project and associated land use changes at Barangaroo in June, made fundamental errors in the way it considered the development.
