Twenty-four numbered plates were set up in a horse shoe shape, with a biscuit on each.

Amor then made his selection by chowing down on the treats.

The guard dog in training chose Exospheric in first place. Almoonquith was his second choice, while third went to Bondi Beach.

The race that stops the nation is broadcast at 3pm.

Local hopeful Jameka, trained by Ciaron Maher and co-owned by Warrnambool businessman Colin McKenna, is third favourite behind Hartnell and Oceanographer, according to TAB.
