Bunbury’s Recreation Ground was alive with activity over the weekend when the 11/28 Battlegroup A Company took to the field to put on an epic show of skill and fitness.
Soldiers came from Albany, Rockingham and Perth to participate in the training weekend which involved testing individual navigation skills and battle readiness.
On Sunday, soldiers conducted a five-kilometre force march around the ground while wearing full battle kit and undertook the readiness test which each soldier must pass before deploying.
These activities include a run wearing basic webbing weighing eight kilograms while carrying a rifle, carrying 40-liters of water over a set distance and lifting a set weight up onto a truck.
The public had the opportunity to get acquainted with weapons including the F88 soldiers individual weapon, a F89 light support weapon and the Mag58 machine gun.
Kids enjoyed having their faces painted with camouflage as they tried on battle equipment and scoped out army vehicles.
