The Leschenault Green Caps may need to consider moving Tom Buchanan up the batting order after the talented cricketer ran out of balls on his way to a century for the second time in season 2016/17.
In a round nine clash against Eaton, Buchanan came to the crease with the score on 3/72 and posted 91 runs not out from 78 balls with 11 boundaries and one six to get Leschenault to 6/218 from 50 overs.
The same thing happened to him in round five, also against Eaton, when he was left stranded on 92 not out.
That day the Beavers went on to record victory but a better bowling effort by Leschenault on Saturday secured a 55 run win.
James Letchford (3/38) and Michael Newman (3/20) shone with the ball while Buchanan picked up two wickets in a man-of-the-match performance.
A batting collapse from Marist handed Colts an easy victory. Winning the toss and electing to bat, Marist posted just 104 with the last seven batsmen on the card falling for a combined score of 10.
Joe Barningham did the damage with the ball, finishing with the unbelievable figures of 5/4 from 7.2 overs with five maidens.
Lee Sorfleet (40), Cory Fitt (19) and Brayden Clark (17) were the only Marist batsmen to make starts.
Colts made light work of the chase despite openers Cruize Ciallella (2) and Jayden Goodwin (9) falling cheaply. Murray Goodwin (56 not out) and Stephen Green (32 not out) got Colts home for the fall of two wickets with more than 20 overs to spare.
A strong all-round batting performance from Hay Park also secured a weekend win in their clash with Dalyellup Beach.
The Redbacks elected to bat and finished 50 overs on 9/199 thanks to a number of key contributors including Jono Whitney (18), Michael Tassone (29), Kris Miller (33), Dave Taylor (34), Ashley Sbizzirri (39) and Brendan Jones (15).
Daniel Lomax picked up 3/27 with the ball for Dalyelllup Beach while Adam Bilston and Liam Renton both took two.
Dalyellup’s chase started well with Tim Cooper (10) and Ben Lagana (15) making starts.
Paul Jones (24) and Lomax (27) both spent time at the crease and were handy support to Scott Harber who posted 65.
At 5/146 it looked like the Settlers were on track to win but Harber departed with the score on 156 and the tail folded around him to see Dalyellup Beach all out for 162.
Chris Waddingham again led from the front with the ball, picking up 5/28.
This weekend the local Twenty20 competition starts.
